Gemma is a relative newcomer to the tattooing world. Shown the ropes by Neal as his first and only apprentice, she is already committing some unique, very high quality work to skin! Through her consistent dedication, hard work and background in art, she will continue to flourish and develop as an artist and professional tattooist. Check out the gallery of her already impressive portfolio.
Neal is a first generation, self-taught tattoo artist. He has been tattooing professionally since 1998, and is constantly striving to learn and progress in this very unique art form. He is a bit of an all rounder with a penchant for larger scale work that flows and works with the body, especially Bio-Mechanical, Skulls, Japanese waves and Hannya. He draws influence form all forms of art, everyday life and nature. Many of Neal's clients travel from Derry, Coleraine and even Belfast for him to put ink to skin.
I travel all the way from Derry for my ink. The best tattooist in Northern Ireland!
Neal is absolutely fantastic at his work. Did my tattoo many years ago and it’s still looking as fresh as the day I got it done.
Nothing but good things from these guys!! Amazing tattoos and a bit of fun while there doing them… Just give them an idea and they’ll come up with a masterpiece.
Super! great eye for detail and makes a mean cup of tea.
Amazing artist, very professional. I couldn’t recommend Gemma enough.
The only place to go!
No better artist for your inking needs.
I’ve been getting tattooed by Neil (nel) since I was 18, im 33 now. I trust nobody but him near my skin with a tattoo gun. One of the most talented people I know and one of the soundest too.
Brilliant service, great banter. I have had numerous tattoos here and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Results are always five star! Never disappointed.
In short, yes! The tattoo process involves a rapidly reciprocating needle piercing the epidermal layer of the skin and leaving a pigment behind. The larger the tattoo, the more it will hurt. Often large tattoos will be completed in multiple sessions. But, people wouldn’t get more than one tattoo if they hurt that bad.
That all depends on the size, complexity and where it is on your body. We are happy to talk to your about your tattoo ideas and give you an idea of what it would cost. The best way to do this is in person by visiting the shop for a consultation. It is impossible for us to quote for work over the phone.
We are by no means the cheapest but a tattoo is permanent and you really do get what you pay for.
You must be 18 or over to get a tattoo. If you look under-age we will ask for proof of ID. If you are under 18 then your parents cannot vouch for you. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Absolutely. We are happy to work with you on any designs that you bring in. Some things may not always be suitable for a tattoo, in those circumstances we will advise you and work with you on your ideas and design.
This varies from person to person. Generally most people will have surface healing in 7 to 14 days and it should be completely healed within a month.
There are many different methods but we find this works for the tattoos that we do:
You should continue to shower as normal but do not saturate the tattoo in water. As a rule you should avoid: Swimming Pools, Fake Tan, Sunbeds, Saunas etc until the tattoo has healed.
Most importantly, DO NOT pick or scratch your healing tattoo!!! You’ve endured the pain and paid the money for your tattoo. Please look after it for this brief period and you will enjoy a much better looking tattoo than if you ignore these instructions.
We are inspected and registered by the local Environmental health authorities and practice medical grade sterilisation on all of our equipment. We do not reuse needles and our consumables like ink are all of the highest quality.
Yes we can provide you with gift vouchers of any amount. Just call into the shop and we will get you sorted.
Absolutely. We understand that tastes and fashions change or that sometimes things don’t always turn out as expected. Send us a picture or call into the shop of your current tattoo and we can work with you to come up with a suitable custom design to either hide or incorporate your existing tattoo. Why not take a look at our portfolio gallery at some of our previous tattoo cover up designs.
We are a friendly bunch, why not come down to the Art of Damage studio for a chat and talk to us about your tattoo ideas. We can then advise you and make you an appointment. If can’t get down to the studio feel free to send us a message using the form below or the details to the right.
